My family gets together at Lake Pomme de Terre in Missouri for our family reunion every 4th of July. It's a lot of fun, because there's fun for all of us. Swimming, boating, fishing, camping, motels, and a nice fireworks display. It's hot, but it's worth it!

We go to watch the fireworks out in the country instead of the city. When it is dark there, with no city lights, the fireworks are so much brighter and prettier. A friend of ours lives right next door to the field where the city lets off the fireworks, so we go there every year/ Front row seats, great show, awesome party/time with friends! My 5 year old has a blast there too. There is plenty of room for him to run and play with his friends! I can't wait!

The kids and I decorate the front yard with (4th of july) decorations and decorate the main part of the house  and we make apple pie from scratch and bake cookies and add red and blue food coloring to the sugar cookies and take them to our local fire/police station. We spend most of the day eating  hotdogs hamburgers etc then our evening follows going down to the Mississippi River and watching the fireworks

My family has a family reunion on this day. Entire family gets together in one state or another every other year. On the years that the entire family doesn't get together all of our local familys get together at one place or the other. We normally celebrate for 3 days closest to the holiday and when the holiday falls in the middle or the beginning of the week we always barbeque and have the biggest fireworks display on the block. We always watch our city's fireworks display after we have had ours and continue for the next few days with the fireworks. We always take the necessary precautions when using fireworks.Smile

On the Fourth we all get together at Grandma and Grandpa's house and have a Barbecue watch the fireworks, and the kids get to play in the pool and we get them little sparklers so they can enjoy what it feels like to have fun with the fireworks.

We attend a block party at my grandparents' house that has been a tradition for over 50 years in P.A.  The street is blocked to automobile traffic so the kids are free to play (ride bikes, organized games, dunking machines, crafts, etc.) and the adults are free to mingle with their neighbors that haven't seen all winter (and play games as well; bingo, cake walk, etc.).  There's a parade, house decorating contest, everyone eats lunch together and more!  I haven't missed one yet in 33 years!

I plan to visit Myrtle Beach for fun in the sun and great fire work shows!  I normally will visit the house of blues while I am there.  They have a great house band called Entrance that plays great dancing music.Dorine06/24/09 10:25 am

we just moved to a new town/state, and I'm not sure what they have for festivities, but since Cody, Wy is just up the road and it's a tourist town, I'm guessing they will have a fun display to check out!  We used to all get together for a big ol' family picnic/ bbq, and go swimming, play horse shoes, eat, talk and have fun waiting for it to get dark before having a mini display of our own and then going to Pokagon State Park in Indiana for their display.

Mixing iced chai tea, creating chocolate fondue, serving chocolate truffle brownies, and dolloping a white chocolate mousse parfait for a Dove Chocolate Tasting party during the day, then fireworks at night with my daughter.

We will all gather at the lake.  We have a camp there and will meet up there to fish and boat, then move along to my sisters place, which has a smaller lake but all the food and fireworks.
