There are pros and cons with all of the times listed but I must say that I am very interested in what it would have been like to live in the Flinstones era. I just think that we relied more on ourselves and our personal and physical capabilities more so than what we could afford to buy to make our lives easier. I cannot remember what movie it was that I was watching with my son..maybe WALL-E where it was focused on the future and living in such technologically advanced times that humans really didnt even have to get out of bed to accomplish a days work. Becuase technology did all of the work, everyone was overweight and I can see that happening to us in the future too.

I agree with Karen above.  I may have more time but I have less personal contact.  In fact, I have noticed since we had our 1st child 5 months ago how much more it irritates me that my husband & I constantly have our iphone(s)/blackerry with us.  There have been several times where he gets frustrated with our son while feeding him his bottle but the real culprit is that he was trying to read an email on one of the phones & not focusing on our son.  We've instituted a no-phone while feeding (breast or bottle) as a baby step to overcome the problem.

I love the here and now but the future is always brighter...However, the past was not too bad either.  It seems we had more time to do the basics before the techno age.  Makes you wonder what ever happened to the old Monopoly game boards and popcorn balls and waiting for your tv show to come on tv without cable.  mmmmmmmm

I am a true "Gadget Girl"!!! Thanks to low cost cell phones and texting plans, I am connected to my teenagers when they are out with friends. I love my macbook, I'm completing my masters degree online. TiVo is a true luxury, I hope to never, ever live without a digital recorder. My iPod gives me the chance to listen to lectures while I'm driving or on the treadmil. I can't wait to see what will be available next week, next month, or next year. I would agree that these devices have reduced our face to face interactions and I am willing to admit that if my internet goes down I begin to panic a little. Without today's technology I wouldn't be able to accomplish half of the items on my list every week.

They did not ask if we would like to live in the 50's, a simpler, safer time for our children and grandchildren.

I like if we move little slower

We don't know how to socially interact and have lots of meaningful face to face interactions.... that we are supposed to learn from.  Technology is great when used the right way, but lets not forget what our bodies were made for.... experiences

I am also a fan of caller ID, the DVR and all the new technology.  But at the same time we mustn't forget how to survive when all this fails as with a long term power failure or natural disaster.

I think that technology has saved us time, however; as a society we have become so dependent on technology many people have forgotten how to do things themselves.

No wonder our country has gotten itself into so much consumer debt.  There's way too much pressure to keep up with the Jone's and their latest technology.

I like technology to a point.  I think it is a bad thing when parents use it as a babysitter for their children.  Other than that technology is a good thing.

By Deborah on 11/4/2009

I love being able to acess virtually any information or answer needed at a moment's notice- I love, love, love the internet- it has helped our business to the point we wonder how we ever survived without it-                                  and cell phones! as a mom, they have saved me years of stressing about my kids- knowing they could always call me if they needed- or we could reach them if we worried has given us so much relief-

I like the new technologies that we currently have compared to back in the days where we hardly had any.

My time right now is way too slow, I remember the show "The Jetsons", & liked how the technology helped ease some of the burdens of everyday life, and made it easier with some of it. Everything that goes on now takes too long still from point A to point B but we are getting there, and still have not reached our end point. I could not live in the Flinstone Age, I am glad we are out of the VCR age, but we have a long way to go yet......

Well, in my way of thinking" The Jetson's"  in their time were are too fast, "The Flintstones" in their time were too slow, and I don't know what this time is, but I glad I'm here.

I love technology because it makes things so convenient for me! Howver I really hate it when it fails- like when a laptop/cellphone malfunctions because it costs so much to fix it and sometimes you lose all your personal things like pictures =(

I'm a total technophile and definately have WAAAAAY less time due to tech. My DVD player, MP3 player, digital cameras and digital camcorder are nice.  My big screen TV and gaming computer can certainly waste a fair amount of time.BUT my Xbox owns my soul.  I'm currently replaying Fallout 3 in the new GotY edition and loving it even more the 2nd time around.  I've recently decided that what I want to do with the rest of my life is play Fallout 3 Wink

I am a great fan of the DVR.  I no longer miss programs and can skim past all the commercials.  I also really appreciate my Caller I.D. Talking telephone.  Now when my hands are in dish water, or I'm otherwise occupied away from the house phone, I can hear announced the name of the caller, so I can decide whether or not it's worth taking the chance of breaking a leg, just to stop whatever I am doing and dash to the phone to answer it.

I like being able to get information when I need it, but one has to admit, it isn't ALWAYS needed as soon as the question presents itself.  I have a smartphone, and am lost without it because it has all my contacts, information and calendar. But I refuse to pay for internet access because it's ridiculously expensive, and I don't HAVE to read every email that is sent to me the moment it's sent.  I tell friends & family, if it's that important, call me, because your email may go unread for a couple of days.  Technology helps me get many things done more quickly, but I choose to not let it take over my life.

I love the DVR. Because of work and chores that take most of time, I can't be in front of the tv when what I want to watch is on. The DVR lets me watch what I want when I want and I can do it in less time by flying passed the commercials.

I have less time now because of the gadgets. I watch a lot more TV because I tape everything and watch it when I want to instead of just watching what I have time for.

I have a 91 year old Mother that loves her computer she still not into the cell phone yet but can work that computer very well.  She often says what would your Daddy think if he saw what was on TV these days.  He would of got it out of the house so not to let my mother hear the potty mouth.  He would of loved the computer he was a real reader and had to check out every thing as for me I love it all
