Today's Surprise

I babysit kids after school and give them snack when they get off the bus. Rather than use napkins or dirty bowls, I use a coffee filter as a "bowl" for their crackers, popcorn, or whatever treat they might get that day! Coffee filters can be purchased at the dollar store and you get at least $200!

Save small oleo bowls and tops to put cooled drained grease from cooking, or other liquids that you don't want to pour directly in the garbage.

This may sound silly, but whenever I take a load of laundry out of the dryer, I grab the fabric softener sheet and use it to clean the lint screen. It grabs all the lint in one clean shot!

Kitchen sponge with Teflon pad. I cut one in half, keep it in the shower, sponge down with soap on top to absorb water around it. When I shower, I use the sponge, filled with soap and the Teflon pad to scrub my toes and heels. Great for cleaning your feet. I wish they made one with a handle about 6 inches long or so and angled to get under your feet.

If you get oil or grease on clothing and your not at home to clean it right away. You spray the area with hairspray until stiff and when you wash it will come right out.

If you've run out of make-up remover, use baby shampoo/wash. Works great for mascara, since you have to really scrub sometimes, the tear free formula won't sting your eyes.

I do one room at a time, cleaning off all tables, shelves, or anything that needs dusting. I put a clean stocking on each hand, spray the socks and dust, cutting my time in half.

My kids love KFC's bbq chicken, we are on a very tight fixed budget, and can't eat out when the kids want... my son who is 12yrs old, and my daughter who is 9yrs old.. has asked me to try something new.. i'm sure you will enjoy this.. after you fry chicken, and it's completely done.. poor about 4TBLS of Sweet and Tangy BBQ sauce in the bottom of a baking dish.. take your fried chicken, and put it in the dish, poor more BBQ sauce to your likings over it.. bake on 350 deg. for about 20 min. it's delicious.. i do the same thing with pork chops, and it taste wonderful.. any BBQ sauce you choose will work great.. ( on the chicken, after i put the bbq sauce on it, i sprinkle a little bit of light brown sugar.)

For yellow stains on clothing that has been packed away or underarm yellow, baby formula stains, any kind of grease stain etc., spray oven cleaner on the stain, let is soak for a few minutes then wash as normal. In most cases the stain will come out. A lady on by bowling team got something, she didn't know what but it was a long black stain that she tried to get out other ways, on her bowling shirt and thought it was ruined. I told her about the oven cleaner trick and she was wearing it the next week good as new! She was an older lady and when I first told her about the oven cleaner, she was shocked. So sometimes you can teach an old dog new tricks!

To clean a mess of a microwave, put a glass dish half full of water in and give it a good 4-6 minutes on high. This will steam all of the baked on grime and all you'll need to do is wipe it with a paper towel. EASY clean-up!!

To save $ on cleaners for kitchen/bathroom counters use a spray bottle. Fill half of it with your prefered cleaning solution and the other half with water. You can leave your spray bottle out on the counter for easy access. (You can buy a cheap spray bottle to match your theme/colors.)

All of us have bottles of conditioner we didnt like but we keep it "just in case" I use it as a shaving gel!! It works fantastic!! The razor glides across your legs and the conditioner stays on your legs until you go over it with the razor!!

For a cheap & easy foot scrub, mix vaseline & granulated sugar together. Soak feet in warm soapy water for about 20 minutes. Pat dry. Rub the sugar mixture over feet to slough off dry & dead skin. Rinse feet in soapy water & dry. Follow up with your favorite lotion. Your feet will feel the softest & smoothest ever!

To prevent extra lean ground beef from sticking together in clumps when I brown it, I add about 1/4 cup of water. It is always nice and crumbly for tacos, etc.

The bank opens at 9:00 a.m., closes at 5:00 p.m. and is closed Saturday and Sunday, so should you. Take some stress off and make yourself quit thinking finances after and before these times. Put a bullitin board up where you will see it everyday and put your bills and other important things to remember on it. Hang a calendar beside it so you can write important dates and see what day of the month it is. All of this will help unclutter your mind and will relieve some stress. Constantly trying to remember these types of things can become overwhelming and frustrating to say the least, and if you skip a beat-devistating. Relying only on your memory for these things can create a lot of stress when your brain has a full desk. Treat business like business. After you have done what you can do put up the "CLOSED" sign. Have some fun with your brain do a puzzle if you want to strengthen your memory skills.

When you take your shower, smile into the spray. The spray acts as a water pick for your teeth and helps cut flossing time down. Plus, it makes you smile even more. It's fun!

Instead of Wednesday Pasta night our family has a left-over night. The kids 4 1/2 & 3 love the buffet of left-overs I set out on the kitchen counter...they get to choose what they want and can have something different than everyone else. It's become a fun family dinner game.

Take tags off of new items only after trying them on for use, leave the receipt in the bag with the new items until they have been tried. When returning items tape the receipt to the UPC of the item so that it is not lost in the bottom of the bag or thrown away by an eager customer service employee. Have a specific location to store returns that you can see as you leave your home. Return all items you will not use, it serves no purpose to keep these to collect dust.
